Friendship
by Lea
There is a pear tree that is heavily laden with big, delicious fruit.
Many of the lower limbs are touching the ground from
The weight of so many pears.
I pick those pears first and the limbs
Slowly rise again to their normal place.
I have to shake the tree to get the pears growing higher on the tree.
They fall to the ground.
As I pick them up, some are cut and bruised.
Some are badly damaged from the force of their fall
To the ground below.
I take the bruised pears and wash them gently.
I cut away the unsightly skin and
I find the flesh beneath is firm and sound and
Just as delicious as if it had never been injured.
So it is with our lives.
We can be cut and bruised and damaged
By our journey through this life.
The storms can be raging within our bodies.
We can be besieged by the unexpected.
Our heart and soul reaches out for comfort.
A friend is there saying "Come rest with me."
We pour out our disappointments and all the bad situations.
We cry.....we struggle to explain our feelings.
A friend listens and understands.
Thank you, my friend!!
